The Hotel History of Sin City's Most Cinematic Moments

by Ken Miyamoto - updated on March 15, 2018

Las Vegas. Sin City. The location of so many iconic films throughout the years. Ocean's Eleven. Rain Man. Indecent Proposal. Leaving Las Vegas. Swingers. The Cooler. The Hangover. Just a few of my own favorites.

What is it about this place that entices so many writers and filmmakers to set their stories there? Is it the danger? The temptation? The iconic imagery?

It's about character. Las Vegas is a character in each and every film that uses it as a setting, be it throughout the course of the whole film or just as a story point.

Las Vegas represents so much to so many. It's a family tourist getaway, a place of luxury, a place to escape to, a place to escape from, a place to lose your money, a place to beat the odds and win a fortune, a place to party, a place to get married on a whim, etc.

Location is everything, whether it's Las Vegas, a small country town, New York, Los Angeles, Paris, etc. These are all characters waiting to be utilized.

With all of that said, Las Vegas truly stands out among that crowd of characters. Enjoy this infographic featuring some of our favorite moments and locations in Las Vegas.

What happens in Vegas doesn't always have to stay in Vegas. Vegas.com explores the Las Vegas hotel history of some of Sin City's most iconic cinematic moments.
