To finish off the Lens-Artists Photo Challenges for 2018, Leya, Photographic Review of 2018, invites us to review our year and pick photos that capture our memories most vividly.
My mind, body, and soul flood with memories and longing for loved ones who passed away in 2018. I’ve selected photos that inspire fond happy thoughts, and help me recollect and appreciate the unique special impact each had on my life.
My courageous, kind, and loving Mother-
There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep (sorrow), and of unspeakable love.

Our gentle-spirited Labrador Retriever, Kirby
Dogs’ lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with him, never fail to share his joy or delight in his innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion. There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price.

Our animal friends teach us more than we could have expected… and love us more than we could have hoped… That’s why we miss them more than we could have imagined.

It’s good we remind ourselves to find happiness in our times of grief. It almost sounds counter-intuitive… however, I agree with you, Janet. Blessings to you and your family as well.

How much worse to suffer from grief and not have even good memories…or to have regrets!

Thank you Jane, it’s so lovely to see how much they enjoy being in nature. Eivor, the black whippet, had never been taken out for a walk before he arrived at the shelter 💜
