    1. I’m not sure what it will take to actually get folks onboard here to really make a difference. Too many fast food and to-go coffee shops… But campaigns like this Straw-free Day are a start.

  1. Excellent points, Jane. I rarely use straws, partly because I don’t get to-go drinks too often and partly because I don’t like them. I have Contigo drink “bottles” that I use most of the time and as I mostly get hot tea as a to-go drink, straws don’t work well for that. I do have a few straws at home that we’ve gotten at various times and I wash and re-use them. I think you can get bamboo straws or something like them, which might be a good idea for those who use lots of straws. We do a majority of the things in your second graphic, although we could always be a bit better. Taking a glass container with when eating out would work, although it would require forethought and a new habit. 🙂 I got rid of my ancient plastic storage containers and replaced them mostly with glass, although I do have one set of new plastic containers that don’t contain the bad “BH…whatever” stuff. Sometimes glass just isn’t practical and I plan to use them for many, many years.

Thanks for the tips and encouragement.

    1. Janet, you certainly do have a lot of eco-friendly habits already established. Feel proud that you are leading by example 😉 Sounds like we are on similar paths… my plastic storage is now glass. I’m working on eliminating polyester fiber fill bedding- my current household project. We’ve lived in Oregon over 45 years… yesterday… my very first Pendleton wool blanket arrived… I loved sleeping under it!!
      Take care
