  1. That quote by Rose Kennedy is so appropriate for your beautiful photo of the song bird, Jane. Many years ago, I lived next door to Rose Kennedy in the Kennedy Compound on Cape Cod. She was a fascinating woman. When the tour buses would arrive at the picket fence to the compound, she would go out to greet the tourists. But, she never told anyone who she was. Instead, she would tell the tourists that she knew Rose Kennedy and she would take them into her house to see her doll collection. The guards tried to warn her not to invite strangers into her home, but I can hear her saying, “People should be free to delight in whatever sunlight remains to them.” And she always did just that.

    1. Debbie-
Thank you for sharing this wonderful impression of Rose Kennedy and the context in which the quote was once shared.
What an enlightening opportunity to learn the background of a now famous quote.
How special it must have been to be Rose Kennedy’s neighbor. Did you see her doll collection?
      ❤ Jane

      1. Yes, I did. I taught 2nd grade in Dennisport, and one day I wrote a letter to Ethel Kennedy asking if she needed a house sitter for the winter months in her home in the compound. She called me and I lived in Ethel’s house, next to Rose Kennedy’s house for a school year. Those were exciting times.
